Background Information about Town Wall Conservation Group
The group was set up at the end of 2007, following the request from residents who wanted to know what could be done to improve Town Wall Common Land, Wilnecote which had been left derelict and unmanaged.
A committee was established, constitution drawn up and signed on 27th March 2008. The name of the group being Town Wall Conservation Group (TWCG) which comes under the auspices of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. The aim of TWCG is to restore the Common Land at Town Wall, to develop, promote and enhance the site, bringing it back into the public domain for practical and aesthetic use.
Every Saturday from 10.30am to 1.00pm the group meet together with local residents to undertake a variety of tasks from litter picking, bird box building, path maintenance, tree and hedge maintenance to activities arranged by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. There is something for everyone. All are welcome.
With the help from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and application for £50,000 is currently being applied for from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The application has reached stage 2 of the process. The money will be used to create and improve the public footpaths, providing rest spots along the way, disabled access and general site levelling and clearance to enable wild flower meadows to be created and a grasses area with benches.

Last Site Work Day
The last site work day was Saturday 9th January 2010. However, due to severe snow the site day was cancelled, instead two group members delivered leaflets to the surrounding area informing them of the progress the group is making and inviting new members to come along and help out.
